About Reya El-Salahi

Reya El-Salahi is a presenter, reporter and journalist, with almost a decade worth of broadcasting experience in news and current affairs. She is currently a news presenter/reporter for London TV channel, London Live.

As a documentary filmmaker Reya has travelled internationally; In 2011 she presented the BBC Three television documentary Mixed Up in the Middle East. Her next film, Beggar Off, launched London Live’s flagship documentary strand (2014). She also hosted the first BBC Three podcast, ThreeCast.

Reya previously presented a popular BBC local radio programme specialising in news and current affairs for diverse communities (BBC Radio Nottingham). Other past credits include specialist diversity reporter (BBC local radio, BBC UK Black), live travel correspondent (BBC Radio 5live, BBC Radio 4, BBC News Channel), news presenter/reporter (BBC Asian Network), and featurette presenter/reporter (Channel 4’s online strand, 4Talent).

Reya is a recipient of a Bloomberg scholarship - awarded to post graduate students with the ability and potential to make an exceptional contribution to the Broadcast Journalism industry; the BBC’s annual Diversity Award for work representing black British communities in news and current affairs (2014), and was named one of Britain’s most outstanding graduates in Powerful Media’s Future Leaders list (2011-12).
