About Miriam Stoppard

Doctor, businesswoman and writer, Miriam Stoppard obtained the degrees of M.B., B.S., M.D., M.R.C.P., while studying and practising medicine at London, Newcastle and Bristol Universities and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London.

Miriam developed a career in television after seven years practising medicine, specialising in dermatology, and a career in the pharmaceutical industry. She hosted her own medical shows on ITV for nearly 15 years as well as breakfast TV and many guest slots, and to date has published more than eighty books on conception, pregnancy and birth, child care and development, and women’s health. She currently writes three pages a week for a national newspaper and appeared in the second series of The Real Marigold Hotel on BBC One in 2017.

Miriam holds two Honorary Doctorates of Science and an Honorary Doctorate of Law. She has two sons, two stepsons, two stepdaughters and eleven grandchildren and enjoys visiting France, the opera and skiing.

In November 2008 Miriam received the prestigious Stonewall Journalist of the Year award and in January 2010 she received an OBE in the New Year's Honour List for her services to healthcare and charity.
