Angela Rippon's photograph is one of 140 iconic portraits of great 20th Century Britons, which have been acquired for the nation by the National Portrait Gallery. The portraits were taken between 1975 and 1978 by Bern Schwartz, a Californian businessman who turned to photography in his sixties and are on display at the National Portrait Gallery from 10th July for six months.
