Controversial award-winning teacher Phil Beadle presents this new three-part series revealing the reality of Britain's adult literacy crisis, as nine illiterate adults enrol on a six month reading course in a bid to change their lives. Phil attempts to guide the mature students towards their goals, whilst also scrutinising the Goverment's adult literacy course. As the lessons begin Phil finds he has to deal with his pupils' raw emotions as well as their inability to read.
