Justin Preston

In May 2005 Justin Preston purchased Allens of Mayfair, London’s oldest and most prestigious retail butcher, and has re-established the business as a London foodie landmark.

Justin formed his own company called rare! in 2000 to cater for the very top end of London restaurants and hotels. Rare! has been a success through providing the very best quality and service.

March 2008 saw Justin buy another business, Simply Sausages, which has already seen a significant increase in trade.

Rare Holdings employs over 100 staff, and will have a turnover in excess of £15 million in 2008. The Rare companies supply meat to some of the most prestigious names, including Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White, Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson. They also supply many of London’s best restaurants, 5-star hotels and gentlemen’s clubs.

In November 2009 Justin offered his expertise as a judge on BBC Three's Young Butcher of the Year, where young butcher apprentices competed for the title. He also made an appearance on BBC2's Economy Gastronomy offering advice on buying meat.
