Irek Mukhamedov

Irek Mukhamedov OBE is one of the world's most famous male dancers.

He made his debut with The Bolshoi Company in 1981 and became their leading male dancer touring the world with the company. He joined the Royal Ballet in June 1990 where he has danced hundreds of different ballets, including many that were specifically created for him by the world's top choreographers.  In addition to his work with The Royal Ballet, he has performed with his own company in Britain and abroad.  His awards are too numerous to mention.

Mukhamedov is married to former Bolshoi dancer Maria Zubkova, and they have a daughter, Alexandra and a son, Maxim both born in London. In January 2000 he was awarded an OBE in the New Year's Honours List.
