Awards: As the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, Michael has been awarded the Olivier, Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics' Circle, Dramalogue and Drama Critics' Circle awards; 1981 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for Barnum. In recognition of his career achievements, Michael was made an Officer of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II.
